The Unitec Upgrade Subscription entitles for free product upgrades. The price is 12.5% of the overall product price per year.

Upgrade Subscription


Unitec Informatik is specialized in the development of system extensions and programming tools for the Unix and Windows NT/95/98 operating system environments. Our products are integrated into many different application software packages and therefore require to have superior quality and to be subject of careful release planning.

The high degree of reliability of Unitec products can only be achieved by the use of state of the art test and debug tools as well as rigid verification of even minor changes and extensions. In order to cover the cost of these improvements, we have to charge a fee for upgrades. Prices are dependent on the extent of the changes made as well as on the age of the upgraded license. The following table serves as a guideline:

Each Unitec software license is issued for the use on one single computer system only. For any use on another computer system, e.g. on an upgrade to a more powerful CPU or a sidegrade to another model, a new license has to be purchased.

In order to make cost of ownership predictable, Unitec offers an upgrade subscription for all its products. The price of the subscription is 12.5% of the current sales price per year and includes upgrades to new versions free of charge as well as a price reduction of 30% on each system update or sidegrade. The subscription may be bought during the 30 day warranty period or after each paid upgrade and will renew automatically for the period of another year without written notice before expiration.

Once a new release is available, all our distributors, the local representatives and - upon request - the owner of the subscription are informed by e-mail. In addition, their availability is published on our Web site.

 

Reporting Problems


When you encounter problems while running Unitec products, please consult your software supplier (VAR). If the VAR identifies the problem to be a software error, he sends a problem report (PR) with a detailed description, a copy of all configuration files and the procedure to reproduce the error by e-mail to support@unitec.ch. PRs sent by normal mail or by fax cannot be handled during holidays. Unitec handles problem reports as follows:

Each PR is analyzed as soon as possible. If the error cannot be reproduced, Unitec may request additional descriptions and/or data.

The error is classified as minor or as major bug.

If no workaround can be found for a major bug, a new version is created as soon as possible.

In any case, all known major bugs will be fixed in the next release.

Minor bugs will be fixed in one of the next releases.

Millennium Compliance


The Unitec products CSS and CssNT are millennium compliant starting with release 3.30, WinCss with release 1.30 and UCM with release 2.00. As a precondition the underlying operating environment must also be certified accordingly.
